Happy Thanksgiving 2011. Mine was already ruined by a Pigvlax yesterday. I had to listen to its psychological baggage, like an invasion into my mind.
That was no fun for me, so instead of telling you all about it, I will just continue on with my life.
I'm located in an area of San Francisco called The Mission. There are lots of aliens here, just like in Babylon 5.
San Francisco is a good place to be a writer.
Los Angeles lost its charm for me long ago.
I feel free here.
I would imagine it would be a good place to be a writer in Los Angeles during the 40's, where you could just jam out on your typewriter.
I just don't feel the romance down there.
The city is a mess.
It kind of doesn't work.
Neither does this city.
Where's the money?
San Francisco taxes everything it can to help pay for all of those 'cush' jobs.
Anyway, space is the place.
I'm sitting here in the cafe. I have my coffee. I have my laptop, and it is Thanksgiving.
I will pass on the family and the turkey today. I don't need it.
All I need is time and a clear mind.
I made my Darth Maul dance video last night. It took longer than expected, but I mostly got the results I was looking for.
Darth Maul dancing is pretty funny.
I would like to do a Gladys Knight 'Midnight Train to Georgia' featuring Darth Marth. I'll have to research the dance moves a little.
The internet is a little slow in here today. There are lots of users.
I might as well be in outer space. San Francisco is pretty much the same thing.
San Francisco is kind of a wild west town in space.
I always like to think that the cantina in Star Wars was influenced by San Francisco bars. It seems to work.
People love science fiction. More and more girls are into it. They will someday realize that a lot of science fiction involves women.
Science Fiction often involves strong female characters that kick ass, so I don't know why women don't like it more. I guess it is because of the goon factor, but it is a hell of a lot more interesting than hair, make-up, and nails.
The Simpsons are very popular. I've been watching Season 3 on dvd. It is good stuff. I can't get enough. Some of the jokes fall flat, but not many. It's a writer's paradise, that show is.
Anyway, I just read the wiki article about The Simpsons. It was a good article to read, and informative.
The voice actors originally got paid $30,000 per episode. They get a lot more now. $400,000 for every episode. That is a lot. Amazing. Incredible. It makes me think about what I am doing with my life. I can work a month on a painting, and not get paid at all. Dang.
Bitch has to get paid, that's my problem.
Anyway, life is good. I came in here with the intent of writing about science fiction, but I haven't done too well. I got distracted with Simpsons stuff, happily, I might add.
I want to do cartoons and make millions. That sounds good. Maybe I will. My cartoons have to be good, though. Nothing stopping me.
I have a good window seat in the cafe, but the sun shines on the screen. It is annoying that it is the best place in the cafe to write for me, and the sunlight ruins it. Dang. From here, I can see both inside and outside, and I really like that.
I might make the new Darth Maul video of 'midnight train' if my research leads me into doing it for real. It seems to me like it would be fun and funny to do, if I can nail down some of those dance moves of The Pips, lol. I used to love watching that stuff, in high contrast to a band jumping around, these guys would just do their dance moves and back-up singing.
I can barely see the screen now.
I put up my clipboard in the window sill which creates a shadow so I can see.
Yes, getting paid seems to be a concern for me. I don't know how I'm going to live. I need to create a fan base, and create lots of content.
I wouldn't mind being a cartoonist. It's a lot of work, though....but what isn't? You gotta work hard in order to make anything happen.
I was never a fan of Futurama. For me, the show didn't work too well, and I found it unfunny. I also didn't care about the characters too much. Did I mention that I found it unfunny? Also, the computer animation, while it looked cool, really just seemed to be there to make the show look cool. Something was lost in translation, and it didn't grab me.
South Park saved me from mediocre cartoons by being one itself, and then being better than a lot of stuff with its own brand of humor, being mostly original in concept and design. They have their 'making fun of celebrities' thing going, instead of just having guest appearances like in The Simpsons.
I guess I should do some artwork eventually. I just haven't cared about doing that much lately, due to lack of interest.
I'll surprise everybody one of these days.
Wow, 219,463 hits on my 'relatively new youtube channel'. It takes time to get it going. I have so many videos, over 1200, that it would be great if one of my monetized videos went viral.
Granted, I was late into the game. I didn't even know how to work a camera when I was making my first videos. Or just barely enough.
I still need to learn effects, but those don't matter to me if it doesn't serve the video. I like the low-tech approach.
I'm low on coffee. Maybe I should go home and make some. Cheaper than here.
A goal in life is to make enough so I can pay off my daily coffee expenses.
I've been sitting here in the cafe for hours. I like to write in here and do research. It's all a good time.
I wouldn't mind a good turkey sandwich today and some cranberry sauce, but I'll be happy with the basics in my studio.
It's all I need.
A good Thanksgiving for me is peace and quiet, dvds, and video games...and some beer.
Laters.
