I have been watching a lot of Babylon 5. It is a great show.
It is funny that I still have a similar impression of the show when I first saw it years ago.
This show is bizarre. Everything about it is strange.
But, it is very good, though.
There is a certain amateurish aspect of the show which kind of makes some scenes like it was just made by some sci-fi fan, but in a way, that is alwo what is good about the show, for it doesn't take itself all that seriously.
Babylon 5 is a show that can laugh at itself, which is another outstanding aspect of its appeal.
Now, with 'Space Journey Battles', which is the sci fi epic I am working on, well, I just want to do it all my own way.
One problem I have with both Star Trek and Babylon 5 is, well, you know what? Both shows are not far enough into the future. I don't think any way in hell that we will be in space outside of our solar system in 200 years. I don't think so. We don't even have a colony on the moon yet, and that was predicted to have happened by now. It is just too expensive and pointless, when that money is needed on Earth.
Yes, there is plenty to do on Earth.
In fiction, you can do anything, but if fiction isn't aware of real possibilities, then it immediately places the fiction in an alternate universe.
Fiction is often a dream within the mind of the creator, so that places it in a fictional universe right there.
Dialogues turn out to be modified from what actually happened, and the names of people, places, and things are modified.
Non-fiction often becomes blurred.
Some fiction has lots of actual facts in it, whereas some non-fiction is liberally creative.
Anyway, all these things I am trying to figure out for what I want to do.
I like Babylon 5 for bringing in actors like Bill Mumy, Walter Koenig, Michael York, and others from sci-fi days gone by. Even Majel Barrett makes an appearance as a Minbari.
San Francisco is a sci-fi heaven. All I have to do to remind myself of that is to walk outside and see all the freaks and aliens, or hell, even look around me in the cafe. People from all walks of life are here.
Yes, I have my work cut out for me.
I like talking on this USB external keyboard. It rules. I can really produce a lot of words on this thing like nothing I have ever typed on before in my life. It is so much better than typing on the actual laptop. The angle is wrong.
Wow, I just made the angle of the keyboard even better for my hands. That is rad. That is the thing that f***s up your hands. ( Curse that I can't swear on this blog, unless I set it for adult. Adsense has me by the balls. )
Keyboard designers are so screwed up. The really need to look at actual typewriter keyboards, and get the angle right.
Computer people can be soooo dumb sometimes.
Anyway, it is a beautiful day. Actually, it is cold out there. However, I am in a good mood, and I got lots of things cooking in my brain.
I am starting to think of characters I want to make, and what I want them to do.
Of course, I would love to have both PG versions and rated X versions of my sci fi universe.
Or at least unrated.
I want to do naughty things, and I know that things in films that you can do in Europe has to be really sanitized here. It is all screwed up.
Yet, I know you don't have to put the naughty stuff in. It just makes it more fun, though.
I've seen people freak out over things outside of their mental boundaries, though. It can make people freak out.
People are really scared of ideas.
Anyway, one character has his own spaceship, and it is populated by female androids. He can do whatever he wants with them, and he is pretty happy just floating around space. All of the androids have pleasure model capabilities, and most of them can work with tools, too, so that they are somewhat useful.
Basically, this character is based on me, and what I would do in space.
With the androids, I could turn them off anytime I wanted to, so I wouldn't have to hear them talk if I didn't want to.
I think this sounds like an ideal situation for me, as long as the androids sexually felt like women, I would have no problem, and no one would get pregnant.
It would be funny if later on, there is a real female on board, and all hell would break loose.
I would have a good time writing for this character.
He would be a random guy in the galaxy, just showing up from time to time.
He would always be on the look-out for ways to make money.
Maybe he would have an art studio on his ship, and he would make paintings of his androids. It would be idea, since they could stay still for a long time when he paints them.
In a way, I am that character now, and San Francisco is basically a huge space station, and we all live here.
That is awesome, I can work with that.
I've been a little disappointed with The Art World lately. They don't seem to want me, so f*** 'em.
Time for a smoke.
